Self Test/Battery Test

If a Printer problem is suspected, or to check the Printer Batteries, perform
the following Steps:
Step 1 Turn the Printer Power Switch to OFF
Step 2 Hold down the Paper Advance Button
Step 3 Turn the Printer Power Switch to ON
Step 4 Release the Paper Advance Button
The Printer will perform a self test by printing the entire character set. The
battery status will print immediately following the character print test and
will be indicated by BAT:5 (new) to BAT:0 (replace).
Note
Most printing problems are the result of
misalignment of the Optical Receiver of the
Printer and the Optical Transmitter of the
System.

Operating Information

Automatic Power-Down. After about 10 minutes of inactivity, the Printer
will switch to low-power mode to conserve batteries. To reactivate the
Printer, press the paper advance button.
Batteries. Battery life for alkaline batteries is approximately 6000 print
lines of continuous printing. To prolong battery life, turn the Printer Power
Switch to OFF when not in use and set the contrast to the lowest
comfortable setting.
You should install fresh batteries when any of the following conditions
occur:
The print contrast is uncomfortably low, even when the Print
Contrast Control is set to highest contrast.
Printing slows because the print head moves across the paper at
a much slower speed.
Printing halts before all information on a line has printed.
The battery status printed at the end of the self test is 0-1.
