The library's tape drives are installed in drive bays located at the back of
the library and are easily accessible. The library accommodates up to two
full-height LTO-4 or LTO-3 tape drives or up to four half-height LTO-4 tape
drives. If more than one tape drive is installed, they are hot-swappable to
provide uninterrupted library operation.
LTO-4 tape drives also offer encryption, which is performed by encryption-
capable LTO-4 tape drives using LTO-4 media. Both half-height and full-
height LTO-4 tape drives support encryption in the library. Encryption is
only available using LTO-4 media; it is not available using LTO-3 or LTO-2
media even if you use an LTO-4 tape drive.

Tape Drive Sleds
Each tape drive is mounted in a drive sled which provides the electrical
and logical connections to the library.
