Chapter 12 — Library and Tape Drive Firmware
After all backup processes have completed, all backup software daemons
are stopped, and you have the latest firmware on hand, you are ready to
update the library firmware.
Upgrading via a USB Device
You can use a USB device that has been sent to you from Spectra Logic, or
you can download firmware files from the Spectra Logic Web site onto
your own USB device, using your computer.
Insert the USB device in the USB port. Wait a minute or so to give the
library a chance to recognize the presence of the USB device before
continuing.

Selecting New Firmware to Upload
Follow these steps to update the library with the latest firmware package:
1. Log into the library with superuser or administrator privileges.

You have access to the most current library firmware package through
one of the following sources:
An Internet connection on the library
A local firmware server (see
page 211)
A USB key (see below)
Note: Not all USB storage devices are compatible with the library.
Note: You should not leave a USB key in the USB port indefinitely,
unless specifically instructed to do so by Spectra Logic Technical
Support.
