Grounding the SRX1400 Services Gateway

To connect the services gateway to earth ground:
Verify that a licensed electrician has attached the cable lug to the grounding cable

(cable lug, washers, and screws are not supplied with the device).
Attach an ESD grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to an approved

site ESD grounding point. See the instructions for your site.
Ensure that all grounding surfaces are clean and brought to a bright finish before you
3.
make the grounding connections.
Connect the grounding cable to a proper earth ground.
4.
Detach the ESD grounding strap from the site ESD grounding point.
5.
With the ESD grounding strap attached to your bare wrist, connect the strap to one
6.
of the ESD points on the chassis.
Place the grounding cable lug over the grounding point—a pair of M5 holes to the left
7.
of the power supply slots. See Figure 30 on page 78.

Secure the grounding cable lug to the chassis using washers and screws.

Dress the grounding cable, and verify that it does not touch or block access to device

components and it does not cause a tripping hazard.
