10.1 I&M Services
The information available in the 767 components is not only relevant for the
actual automation function, but are also used by various applications during the
entire life cycle. Of particular significance is data that is pertinent to service and
maintenance processes.
Uniform data structures and access mechanisms were defined for PROFINET in
the "Identification and Maintenance Functions" (I&M) so that applications can
access this information without regard to device type or profile. I&M data can be
retrieved both for the fieldbus coupler and for the existing I/O modules.
Additional information is necessary to analyze the I&M data and can be obtained
on the Internet at www.profibus.com. This website offers device-specific
information (e.g. device documentation and the device description file).
The following table lists the parameters of the I&M0 data set and describes the
values by means of the fieldbus coupler.
