Switch Interface Boards (SIBs) create the switch fabric for the QFX10016. Each QFX10016
contains six SIBs that are installed vertically, mid-chassis, between the line cards and
the Control Boards in the front and the fan trays in the rear. When all six SIBs are installed,
the QFX10016 has a net switching capacity of 96 Tbps.
The SIBs make up the QFX10016 switching plane. Five SIBs are required for operation,
with the sixth providing N+1 redundancy. The sixth SIB is powered and available to the
system at all times. Each SIB has 16 connectors that match and connect to a connector
on one of the 16 line cards. See Figure 31 on page 52.
