The overall process of bringing up the chassis is simple and straightforward. After you
ground the chassis, add power supplies, and supply power to the chassis, the system
initiates the power-on sequence. This sequence can start incrementally with a single
power supply, but it is not recommended that you bring up a QFX10000 system with
less than three power supplies.
Before you begin to connect power to the switch, be sure you understand how to prevent
ESD damage. See "Prevention of Electrostatic Discharge Damage" on page
To connect AC power to a QFX10000 chassis:
Connect the chassis to earth ground (see
1.
on page 162).
CAUTION: To meet safety and electromagnetic interference (EMI)
requirements and to ensure proper operation, a QFX10000 must be
adequately grounded before it is connected to power.
For installations that require a separate grounding conductor to the chassis,
use the protective earthing terminal on the rear panel of the QFX10000
to connect to the earth ground.
A QFX10000 gets additional grounding when you plug the power supply
in the switch into a grounded AC power outlet by using the AC power cord
appropriate for your geographical location. See
