Flow definitions

To define a flow and configure Flow Vision to monitor that flow, you must provide a unique flow
name and specify the flow parameters. These parameters identify the sets of related frames and
can either be explicitly defined or Flow Vision can learn them through observation.
Flow definitions are stored on the switch on which you create the flow, and are not distributed
across the fabric. This means that each switch knows only its own flows and does not know what
flows exist on other switches.
You can create three types of flows: Monitor, Generator, and Mirror. For specific procedures for
defining flows, refer to the following topics:

Flow frame type parameters
Frame monitoring can be performed for a variety of frames using predefined frame type
parameters. To access the Frame Type Picker dialog box, click the ellipsis button next to the Frame
Type field on the Add Flow Definition dialog box.
