23. Remove the 4 lower transaxle-to-engine bolts (1, 5,
6).
24. Slide the transaxle away from the engine until the
transaxle torque-converter clears the flywheel.
25. If equipped with a drive axle seal dust cover, discard
it and do not replace it.
26. Lower the transaxle away from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Align and install the transaxle to the engine (1, 5, 6).
CAUTION
!
Refer to "Fastener Notice: ".
2. Install the 4 lower transaxle-to-engine bolts.
Tightening torque
Tighten the bolts to 75 N⋅m (55 lb ft).
Automatic Transmission:
3. If the vehicle is equipped with AWD complete the
following steps:
a. Install the transfer case to the transaxle. Refer to
"Transfer Case Assembly Replacement: " for
Getrag 760.
b. Install the rear propeller shaft. Refer to "Propeller
Shaft Replacement: ".
4. If the vehicle is equipped with FWD install the
intermediate shaft. Refer to "Intermediate Shaft
Replacement: ".
5. Install the right and left drive shafts. Refer to "Front
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (AWD): " "Front
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement (FWD): ".
6. Turn the crankshaft balancer bolt clockwise to gain
access to the torque converter-to-flywheel bolts
through the starter motor hole.
NOTE
Align the reference marks on the flywheel
and torque converter.
7. Install the torque converter to flywheel bolts.
Tightening torque
Tighten the bolt to 60 N⋅m (44 lb ft).
8. Install the starter motor. Refer to "Starter Motor
Replacement: ".
9. Install the front transmission mount to the
transmission. Refer to "Transmission Front Mount
Replacement".
10. Install the left transmission mount bracket to the
transmission. Refer to "Transmission Mount Bracket
Replacement - Left Side".
11. Install the rear transmission mount bracket to the
transmission. Refer to "Transmission Rear Mount
Bracket Replacement (AWD)" "Transmission Rear
Mount Bracket Replacement (FWD): ".
12. Install the engine-to-transaxle brace if equipped.
Refer to "Transaxle Brace Replacement: ".
