●When attaching reel to starter case, put starter spring inner
end hook c in the notch d of reel.
●Apply cold resistance lithium grease to the following parts.
· Starter Spring
· Reel Center Hole
· Ratchet
· Starter Lock
· Friction Plate
Attach return spring to friction plate, as shown.
●Apply "Three Bond" 1342 to starter shaft bolt, and tighten
the bold to specified torque.
Starter Shaft Bolt :
6 N · m (4 lb · ft) (0.6 kgf · m)

●When winding starter spring, turn reel 5 to 6 rounds to
direction to which the reel rotates when pulling out starter
rope (counterclockwise) . Then, set the spring so that the
reel additionally turns 1/4 of a rotation to one rotation and
1/4 when the rope is fully pulled out. (approximately 5 to 6
rotations)
●After installing recoil starter to outboard motor, perform
shift operation to check that recoil starter is locked at other
than neutral (N) position.
