The book in tray sensor is a retro-reflective sen-
sor that detects when books have completely
entered into the roller tray. This triggers the tray
up/down cylinder and tray dump cylinder to actu-
ate, dropping the book onto the output tray.
The sensor is mounted in the bottom of the roller
tray. The reflector is directly above the sensor,
as shown in Figure 2-113.
Possible Fault Indicators

"Stacker Book Jam at Input"
message is displayed when there is no
jam.

A jam is not detected when there is a
book stuck on the roller tray.

The roller tray never tilts to drop a book.
Initial Actions
Check that the sensor is aligned with the reflec-
tor mounted above it.
Check that all cables between the trimmer and
Stacker are securely fastened and are not dam-
aged.
Check and repair loose or damaged wires 65,
73, and 74 at the Stacker electrical panel.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON and go to the
Stacker diagnostic screen (GP 6.2 In-
put/Output Diagnostics). Make sure that the
sensor is not obstructed. Is input "Book In"
off?
Y N
Disconnect wire 65. On the diagnostic
screen does input "Book In" switch off?
2. Status Indicator RAPs
Y N
Disconnect power and replace the
Stacker I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory
PWB Replacement).
Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.58 Out-
feed Stacker 58000TCA (4/9) or PL 5.64
Stacker Elec. Panel EE-3518).
2. Short wire 65 to 74. On the diagnostic
screen does input "Book In" switch on?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace the Stacker
I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory PWB Re-
placement).
3. Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.58 Out-
feed Stacker 58000TCA (4/9) or PL 5.64
Stacker Elec. Panel EE-3518).
