RAP 2.4 Input Power

This procedure is used to establish main, AC
power to the machine.
WARNING
Improper connection of the grounding con-
ductor can result in the risk of electrical
shock. The following must be observed.
Never attempt any maintenance function that
is not specifically called out in the service
procedures.
WARNING
HIGH VOLTAGE! Use extreme caution when
testing High voltage lines. Serious injury or
death may result from unsafe testing prac-
tices.
CAUTION
If the voltage measurements are not as specified
in the following steps, the cause must be cor-
rected.
Voltage Requirements
200 to 240 VAC for 208/230 volts for
60Hz machines
360 to 420 VAC for 380/415 volts for
50Hz machines
Procedure
1. Switch the main power OFF using the
red/yellow switch on the front of the trimmer.
2. Remove the electrical panel door located on
the lower right side of the machine. Check

the line voltage by measuring the voltage
between the AC lines (L1, L2, L3) at the
power hookup (Figure 2-2). The line voltage
should meet the following specifications:
200 to 240 VAC for 208/230 volts for
60Hz machines
360 to 420 VAC for 380/415 volts for
50Hz machines
3. Does line voltage meet these conditions?
Y
N
Have a licensed electrician correct the line
voltage.
4. Switch the main power ON.
5. Is there line voltage between M1 and M2 at
the electrical panel (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Disconnect main power and replace the
main power switch (PL 5.1 Main Assembly
59000 (1/14)).
6. Is there line voltage between wires 1 and 2
at the CB1 and CB2 circuit breakers (Figure
2-2)?
Y
N
Reset circuit breakers CB1 and/or CB2 if
tripped. If a circuit breaker continues to trip,
use applicable schematic to troubleshoot af-
fected circuit (Section 7, Wiring Data).
7. Remove the trimmer's lower front panel.
8. Check proper connection of wires 1, 2, 20,
and 22 to transformer T1 (Figure 2-3). Is
there 120 VAC between wires 20 and 22 at
the transformer?
Y
N
Disconnect main power and replace trans-
former T1 (PL 5.1 Main Assembly 59000
(1/14)).
MAY 2019
2-10
9. Is there 120 VAC between wires 21 and 22
at the electrical panel (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Reset circuit breaker CB3 if tripped. If circuit
breaker continues to trip, use applicable
schematic to troubleshoot affected circuit
(Section 7, Wiring Data).
10. Is there 120 VAC between wires 23 and 22
at the electrical panel (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Reset circuit breaker CB4 if tripped. If circuit
breaker continues to trip, use applicable
schematic to troubleshoot affected circuit
(Section 7, Wiring Data).
11. Is there 120 VAC between wires 27 and 22
at the electrical panel (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Reset circuit breaker CB5 if tripped. If circuit
breaker continues to trip, use applicable
schematic to troubleshoot affected circuit
(Section 7, Wiring Data).
12. Is there 120 VAC between wires 6 and 22 at
the electrical panel (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Reset circuit breaker CB6 if tripped. If circuit
breaker continues to trip, use applicable
schematic to troubleshoot affected circuit
(Section 7, Wiring Data).
13. Is there 120 VAC between wires 24 and 25
at EMI #2 filter (Figure 2-2)?
Y
N
Disconnect main power and replace the EMI
filter (PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
Input power is normal.
