RAP 2.12 Interlock Relay
Input 1, Output 7
The Interlock (IR) relay energizes when the
green start button is pressed. It de-energizes
when an e-stop button is pressed, a door inter-
lock is opened, or an error occurs. The IR relay
is located near the bottom of the electrical panel
(Figure 2-13).
Possible Fault Indicators
The conveyors will not start and the
gripper transport will not move.
An Interlock Relay error message is dis-
played on the screen.
Initial Actions
Check that both e-stop buttons are released,
and all interlocked doors are securely closed.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON. Is there 120
VAC between wire 20 at the IR relay and 22
on the electrical panel?

N
Go to RAP 2.4 Input Power.
2. Is there 24 VDC between wires 73 and 74 at
the bridge rectifier BR1 (Figure 2-4)?
Y
N
Go to RAP 2.4 Input Power.
3. Switch the main power OFF. Disconnect all
wires at the IR relay. Test continuity of all 7
contacts in the IR relay. The contacts
should be open, and less than 2Ω when
manually actuated. Is continuity normal?

Disconnect power and replace the IR relay
(PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
2. Status Indicator RAPs
4. Reconnect all wires to the interlock relay
and switch the main power ON. Short wire
89 at the IR relay to wire 74 at the main
PWB. Does the relay actuate?

N
Disconnect power and replace the IR relay
(PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
5. With wire 89 shorted to wire 74, test continu-
ity of all 7 contacts on the IR relay. Re-
sistance should be less than 2Ω. Is continu-
ity normal?

N
Disconnect power and replace the IR relay
(PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
6. Remove short between wires 89 and 74.
Short wires 89 and 83A. Go to the diagnos-
tic screen and enable outputs (GP 6.2 In-
put/Output Diagnostics). Activate the "Inter-
lock Relay On" output. Is output LED 7 (GP
6.3 Input/Output LEDs) switched on?

N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
7. Is the IR relay switched on?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the IR relay
(PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
8. Remove the short between wires 89 and
83A. Is output LED 7 still switched on?
Y
N
Go to RAP 2.10 Door Interlocks.
9. Is input LED 1 switched on?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
10. Cycle power OFF and then back ON. Is in-
put LED 1 off?

Continue with RAP 2.15 Starter Circuit.
