RAP 2.25 Gripper Lift Cylinder

The gripper lift cylinder lifts the entire gripper as-
sembly up and down (Figure 2-34). The cylinder
extends whenever the gripper is in motion, thus
lifting the book slightly above the table surface
whenever it is in motion.
Possible Fault Indicators
Books have nicks or scuff marks on bot-
tom cover, especially near the spine.
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Perform GP 6.14 Speed-Control Air Valves.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
hoses.
Check for loose or damaged wire 69 at the elec-
trical panel.
Check that the cable connector on valve #6 is
connected properly.
Procedure
1. Switch the main air ON and main power ON.
2. Manually activate valve #6 by pressing the
actuator button on the valve (Figure 2-35).
Does the valve activate?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace valve #6 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
3. Electrically activate valve #6 by shorting wire
69 to 74 at the main PWB. Does the valve
activate?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace valve #6 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).

4. Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
