RAP 2.56 Elevator Pusher Cylinder

Elevator I/O PWB Output 1
The Elevator pusher cylinder feeds the book
from the top shelf of the Elevator into the trim-
mer. The cylinder is mounted to the underside
of the top frame plate in the Elevator.
Possible Fault Indicators
Book does not leave Elevator and trav-
els over the top.
Pusher remains extended, never ex-
tends, or extends erratically.
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Check that all cables and air tubing between the
trimmer, Elevator, and Tilt Infeed Conveyor are
securely fastened and are not damaged.
Perform GP 6.14 Speed-Control Air Valves.
Check that all air hoses inside the Elevator are
connected properly and not damaged or
pinched.
Check for loose or broken wire 50 at the Eleva-
tor electrical panel.
Check that the cable connector on the air valve
is connected properly.
Procedure
1. Open the Elevator door and fully open the
flow control valve on the left end of the
pusher air cylinder (Figure 2-83).
2. Pull the Elevator away from the machine to
access the flow control on the right side of
the Elevator. Fully open the flow control
valve on the right side.

3. Manually activate the air valve by pressing
the actuator button on the valve (Figure
2-84). Does the pusher extend?

N
Disconnect power and air and replace the
air valve (PL 5.37 Elev. Electrical Panel EE-
3523).
4. Electrically activate the air valve by shorting
wire 50 to wire 74. Does the pusher ex-
tend?
Y
N
Disconnect power and air and replace the
air valve (PL 5.37 Elev. Electrical Panel EE-
3523).
5. Disconnect main power and replace the Ele-
vator I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory PWB
Replacement).
6. Readjust the flow control valves to cushion
the stop at the end of the stroke in each di-
rection. Be careful not to over-restrict the
flow because it will cause erratic travel at the
end of the stroke.
