RAP 2.36 Gripper Rotation Servo Mo-
tor
Input 36, Outputs 30, 31, 32
The gripper rotation servo motor controls the ro-
tational motion of the gripper. It is located just
below and in front of the gripper (Figure 2-55).
Possible Fault Indicators
The gripper will not rotate properly.
"Rotation Error" occurs repeat-
edly.
Initial Actions
Check for loose or damaged wires 34, 64, 65,
and 66 at the main PWB.
Check for proper connection of the power cable
between the elec. panel and the servo motor.
Check for proper connection of the signal cable
between the main PWB and the servo motor.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON. Is there 53 VAC
between wire 19 at the IR relay and wire 80
at BR2 (Figure 2-56)?
Y
N
Is circuit breaker CB7 tripped or off?
Y
N
Go to RAP 2.5 DC Power.
Reset circuit breaker CB7 if tripped. If circuit
breaker continues to trip, use applicable
schematic to troubleshoot affected circuit
(Section 7, Wiring Data).
2. Move the gripper down to the area in front of
the cutting mechanism where the gripper is
free to rotate. Open the rear door and re-
move the waste chute. Close the rear door
and all other doors.
2. Status Indicator RAPs
3. Go to the diagnostic screen and enable out-
puts (GP 6.2 Input/Output Diagnostics). Acti-
vate the Interlock Relay output. Press the
green start button to energize the IR relay.
The "Interlock Relay IR" input should switch
on. Is there 53 VAC between wires 79 and
80 at the bridge rectifier BR2?
Y
N
Go to RAP 2.12 Interlock Relay.
4. Is there 75 VDC between wires 54 and 55 at
BR2?
Y
N
Check and repair wires 54, 55, 79, and 80.
Check for an open diode on BR2. Replace
BR2 if defective (PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-
3503 (1/2)).
5. With the IR relay activated, check the indica-
tor light on the bottom of the servo motor. Is
the light on at all, either green or yellow,
flashing or solid?
Y
N
Check and repair the power cable that in-
cludes wires 54 and 55 at the electrical
panel. If this does not fix the problem, dis-
connect power and replace the servo motor
(PL 5.7 Main Assembly 59000 (7/14)).
6. In the diagnostic screen, press the "Rotate
Test" button. Did the gripper run through a
series of movements and did the indicator
light on the servo motor turn green?
Y
N
Check and repair the signal cable that in-
cludes wires 34, 64, 65, and 66 at the main
PWB. If problem still exists, disconnect
power and replace the main PWB (REP 4.23
Main PWB Replacement). If problem still ex-
ists, disconnect power and replace the servo
motor (PL 5.7 Main Assembly 59000 (7/14)).
Repair complete.
