RAP 2.41 Face Jog Sensor

Input 25
The face jog cylinder rotates down into position
during the book registration process. It is re-
tracted (up) at all other times. The face jog sen-
sor detects when the cylinder is rotationally re-
tracted (up). It is located on top of the face jog
cylinder (Figure 2-65).
Possible Fault Indicators
"Face jog failed to rotate"
message is displayed.
Initial Actions
Clear all books from the machine.
Perform RAP 2.31 Face Jog Cylinder to validate
operation of pneumatics.
Check for loose or damaged wire 17 at the elec-
trical panel.
Procedure
1. Switch the main air OFF.
2. Make sure the jogger is fully rotationally re-
tracted (up). If not, retract it by hand.
3. Switch the main power ON and go to the di-
agnostic screen (GP 6.2 Input/Output Diag-
nostics). Does the diagnostic screen show
input "Face Jog Rotary Down" on?

N
Short wire 17 to wire 74 at the main PWB.
On the diagnostic screen does input "Face
Jog Rotary Down" switch on?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replace-
ment).

Disconnect power and replace the rotary re-
tract sensor (PL 5.17 Power Panel EE-3503
(2/2)).
4. Disconnect wire 17 from the main PWB. On
the diagnostic screen does input "Face Jog
Rotary Down" switch off?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
5. Loosen the sensor mounting screw and slide
the sensor across its groove until the sensor
LED switches on. Make sure the jogger is
fully rotationally retracted (up).
6. Tighten the sensor mounting screw to lock
the sensor in place.
