RAP 2.29 Scrap Air Blast

Four air jets are mounted on the face of the knife
bar. The air jets activate when the knife reaches
the bottom of the stroke. The air blast helps
send the scrap from the trimming area down the
chute and into the waste cart.
Possible Fault Indicators
Scrap is not being blown into waste cart.
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Check for plugged jets, air leaks, and discon-
nected or pinched hoses.
Check for loose or damaged wire 72 at the elec-
trical panel.
Check that the cable connector on valve #9 is
connected properly.
Procedure
1. Switch the main air ON and main power ON.
2. Manually activate valve #9 by pressing the
actuator button on the valve (Figure 2-43).
Does the valve activate?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace valve #9 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
3. Electrically activate valve #9 by shorting wire
72 to 74 on the main PWB. Does air blast
off the knife bar?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace valve #9 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
4. Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
