RAP 2.47 Book Entering CMT Sensor

The book entering CMT sensor is a retro-reflec-
tive sensor that detects books as they enter into
the trimmer. The sensor and the reflector are
mounted on the left side of the trimmer (Figure
2-72).
Possible Fault Indicators

"JAM – Book Between Sensor
Error" message is displayed when
there is no book jam.

If book jam occurs every cycle even
though the book is pushed in straight,
go to RAP 2.33 Internal Conveyor Mo-
tor.

If a book jam occurs every cycle be-
cause the book is entering crooked,
check machine setup in the Installation
and Operator's Manual.
Initial Actions
Check that the reflector on the left side of the
trimmer below the conveyor belt is installed. Re-
place reflector if necessary (PL 5.14 Main As-
sembly 59000 (14/14)).
Check for loose or damaged wire 45 at the elec-
trical panel.
Check that the internal conveyor motors run. If
one or both never run, go to RAP 2.33 Internal
Conveyor Motor.
Procedure
1. Make sure that both the sensor and the re-
flector are not obstructed. Switch the main
power ON and go to the diagnostic screen
(GP 6.2 Input/Output Diagnostics). Does the
CMT-130TC Book Trimmer
diagnostic screen show input "Book Entering
CMT" switched on?
Y N
Short wire 45 to 74 at the main PWB. On
the diagnostic screen does input "Book En-
tering CMT" switch on?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace the con-
sole PWB (REP 4.24 Console PWB Re-
placement).
Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.17
Power Panel EE-3503 (2/2)).
2. Disconnect wire 45. On the diagnostic
screen does input "Book Entering CMT"
switch off?
Y N
Disconnect power and replace the console
PWB (REP 4.24 Console PWB Replace-
ment).
3. Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.17
Power Panel EE-3503 (2/2)).
