RAP 2.50 Barcode Scanner

The barcode scanner is mounted below the in-
ternal infeed conveyor, near where books enter
the trimmer (Figure 2-76). Optionally, the bar-
code scanner can be mounted above the con-
veyor, just inside the trimmer, if books need to
be scanned on the top side.

tion and Operator's Manual.
The barcode scanner's power/communication
cable connects to the touch screen display
PWB.
Possible Fault Indicators
"Bar Code Error" message is dis-
played.
Books are repeatedly not trimmed to the
dimensions that are stored in the bar-
codes.
Initial Actions
Check for loose or damaged cables and connec-
tions from the barcode scanner to the back of
the display console.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON. Is the yellow
power light on the side of the barcode scan-
ner lit?

N
Is there 5 VDC between the red wire and the
green wire at the touch screen display PWB
(Figure 2-77)?
Y
N
Go to RAP 2.6 Touch Screen Display.
2. Status Indicator RAPs
Replace barcode scanner (PL 5.13 Main As-
sembly 59000 (13/14) or PL 5.14 Main As-
sembly 59000 (14/14)).
2. Wave an object or your hand in the scanning
area of the scanner within a few inches from
the scanner. Do the red scanning lights
come on for a few seconds?

Replace barcode scanner (PL 5.13 Main As-
sembly 59000 (13/14) or PL 5.14 Main As-
sembly 59000 (14/14)).
3. Perform GP 6.9 Barcode Scanner. Did this
fix the problem?
Y
N
Replace barcode scanner (PL 5.13 Main As-
sembly 59000 (13/14) or PL 5.14 Main As-
sembly 59000 (14/14)).
Repair complete.
