ADJ 4.8 Timing and Conveyor Belt
Check/Repl.
All timing belts and conveyor belts should be
routinely checked for wear. A belt should be re-
placed if it is cracked, torn, or frayed exces-
sively.
WARNING
Disconnect and lockout power as described
in the Power Lockout Procedure on page ix.
Procedure – Trimmer
1. Disconnect the infeed and outfeed accesso-
ries from the machine in order to access the
side panels of the trimmer.
2. Inspect the timing belt on the registration as-
sembly (Figure 4-20). Is it free of cracks
and wear?

a. Loosen the four screws mounting the
motor to the motor bracket.
b. Disconnect the encoder bracket and
coupling.
c. Replace the timing belt (PL 5.15 Regis-
tration Asm. 56311-3).
d. Reinstall the encoder bracket.
3. Inspect the timing belt on the registration as-
sembly. Is it tight (no sag)?

a. Loosen the four screws mounting the
motor to the motor bracket.
b. Pull the motor up until the sag is re-
moved from the timing belt.
c. Re-tighten all four mounting screws.
4. Inspect the two internal conveyor belts (Fig-
ure 4-21). Are they free of holes, tears, and
excessive edge fraying?
4. Repair/Adjustment Procedures

a. Remove the top front enclosure.
b. Remove the sheet metal book guides.
c. Remove any belt end-covers.
d. Remove the tensioning screws from the
outside face of the table to loosen idler
pulley.
e. Remove drive pulley mounting screws.
f.
Remove the screws that attach the table
to the base.
g. Lift table up slightly and remove the con-
veyor belt from the machine.
h. Install new conveyor belt, and re-install
all hardware and parts that were re-
moved.
i.
Perform ADJ 4.9 Conveyor Belt Track-
ing Adjustment.
5. Inspect the drive timing belts (Figure 4-21).
Are they free of cracks and wear?

Replace worn timing belt(s) (PL 5.11 Main
Assembly 59000 (11/14)).
Procedure Complete.
Procedure – Infeed/Outfeed Accessories
The belts of the Tilt Conveyor, Hand-feed Con-
veyor, and Exit Conveyor are all checked by the
same procedure that follows.
1. Inspect the conveyor belt. Is it free of holes,
tears, or excessive edge fraying?

a. Remove the plastic cover that is above
the conveyor.
b. Loosen the conveyor belt tensioning
screws.
c. Remove the conveyor belt pulley cover
if installed.

d. Remove the other end cover.
e. Remove the conveyor table.
f.
Disconnect the conveyor belt drive pul-
ley from the table.
g. Inspect the timing belt. Is it free of
cracks and wear?

N
Replace the timing belt (PL 5.40 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (2/8), PL 5.41 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (3/8), PL 5.44 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (6/8), or PL 5.68
Exit Conv. 56420TCA (2/3)).
h. Replace the conveyor belt (PL 5.40 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (2/8), PL 5.41 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (3/8), PL 5.44 Tilt
Conveyor 56600TCA (6/8), or PL 5.68
Exit Conv. 56420TCA (2/3)).
i.
Install new conveyor belt in reverse or-
der that it was removed.
j.
Perform ADJ 4.9 Conveyor Belt Track-
ing Adjustment.
k. Reinstall all guides and covers.
2. Remove the end cover on the drive end of
the conveyor.
3. Inspect the timing belt. Is it tight (no sag)?

N
a. Loosen the screws that mount the motor
bracket to the conveyor housing.
b. Slide the motor bracket to remove slack
in the timing belt.
c. Re-tighten the motor bracket mounting
screws.
4. Reinstall the end cover on the drive end of
the conveyor.
Procedure Complete.
