GP 6.14 Speed-Control Air Valves

This procedure describes how to properly adjust
all speed control air valves within the CMT-
130TC and its accessory equipment.
Speed control air valves control speed by re-
stricting air flow. Some valves restrict air going
TO a cylinder or fitting – such as a spring-loaded
air cylinder or an air blast, and some valves re-
strict air going FROM a cylinder – such as dou-
ble-acting cylinders. All speed control valves
have an adjustment knob and a locking nut.
There are two types of speed control air valves
used, fitting-type and inline-type. The two types
are shown in Figure 6-17 and Figure 6-18.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power OFF.
2. Locate the speed control valve that needs
adjustment.
3. Loosen the locking nut using a wrench or pli-
ers.
4. Adjust the speed control knob according to
Table 6-1.
5. Test the cylinder or item by manually actuat-
ing the corresponding pneumatic valve in
the machine or accessory electrical panel
area.
6. Readjust speed control valve if necessary
and test again.
7. Tighten locking nut
8. Close doors and/or replace panels.
