RAP 2.27 Book Lift Air Blast

The book lift air blast is mounted on the gripper
assembly (Figure 2-38). The blast creates an air
layer under the book, protecting the bottom
cover from marks and scratches while it is mov-
ing. To adjust the amount of lift, see ADJ 4.16
Book Underside Air Lift.
Possible Fault Indicators
Book lift blast fails to operate.
Marking or scratches on covers due to
rubbing on the table, especially near the
outside edges of the book.
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Perform ADJ 4.16 Book Underside Air Lift.
Check for a plugged air jet, air leaks, and dis-
connected or pinched hoses.
Check for loose or damaged wire 33 at the elec-
trical panel.
Check that the cable connector on valve #7B is
connected properly.
Procedure
1. Switch the main air ON and main power ON.
2. Manually activate valve #7B by pressing the
actuator button on the valve (Figure 2-39).
Does the valve activate?

N
Disconnect power and replace valve #7 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
3. Electrically activate valve #7B by shorting
wire 33 to 74 on the main PWB. Does the
valve activate?

Disconnect power and replace valve #7 (PL

4. Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
