RAP 2.16 Hydraulic Motor Relay
Input 24, Output 3
The hydraulic motor relay (HMR) switches on
when the start button is pressed. The relay
switches off when either e-stop button is
pressed, an error occurs, or the trimmer goes
into standby mode. It is located at the lower left
area of the electrical panel (Figure 2-19).
The 24 VDC contact is a holding contact. The
208/230 contacts enable the hydraulic motor.
The overload relay, OLH, is mounted to the
pump relay (Figure 2-19).
Possible Fault Indicators
The hydraulic motor will not start.
A motor starter error message is dis-
played on the screen.
Initial Actions
Check that both e-stop buttons are out, and all
interlocked doors are securely closed.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON. Is there
208/230 between wires (M1 and M2) and
(M1 and M3) and (M2 and M3) at the hy-
draulic motor relay, HMR?

N
Go to RAP 2.4 Input Power.
2. Switch the main power OFF. Remove wires
88 and 89 from the OLH relay. Test continu-
ity between the contacts where 88 and 89
were connected to the OLH relay. Does the
resistance measure less than 2 Ω?
Y
N
Replace the overload relay, OLH (PL 5.16
Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
2. Status Indicator RAPs
3. Switch the main power ON. Go to the diag-
nostic screen and enable outputs (GP 6.2
Input/Output Diagnostics). Make sure all
doors are closed, then activate the Interlock
Relay output. Press the green start button
to energize the IR relay. The "Interlock Re-
lay IR" input should switch on. Activate the
"Hydraulic Motor On" output. Does the mo-
tor switch on?

N
Disconnect power and replace the HMR re-
lay (PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
4. Does input "Hydraulic Motor Relay HMR"
change state when manually actuating the
motor starter?
Y
N
Switch the main power OFF. Manually actu-
ate the HMR relay and test continuity be-
tween wires 74 and 43. Does the resistance
measure less than 2Ω?
Y
N
Repair damaged wire or replace auxil-
iary contact on motor starter (PL 5.16
Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
5. Short wire 90 at the HMR relay to 74 at the
main PWB. Does the relay actuate?

N
Disconnect power and replace the HMR re-
lay (PL 5.16 Power Panel EE-3503 (1/2)).
6. Cycle power OFF and then back ON. Is out-
put LED 3 (GP 6.3 Input/Output LEDs)
switched off?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).

7. Press the green start button. Is output LED
3 switched off?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the main
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
Continue with RAP 2.15 Starter Circuit.
