RAP 2.60 Book Entering Elevator
Sensor
Elevator I/O PWB Input 7
The book in Elevator sensor is a retro-reflective
sensor that detects books as they enter the Ele-
vator. The sensor is mounted near the bottom
of the Elevator, just above where books travel
into the Elevator (Figure 2-91). The reflector is
located on the Tilt Conveyor (Figure 2-92).
Possible Fault Indicators
"Elevator Book on Tilt Error"
is displayed erroneously.
A jam is not detected when there is a
jam.
Initial Actions
Check that the reflector is in place (Figure 2-92).
Replace if necessary (PL 5.41 Tilt Conveyor
56600TCA (3/8)).
Check that all cables between the trimmer, Ele-
vator, and Tilt Infeed Conveyor are securely fas-
tened and are not damaged.
Check and repair loose or damaged wires 59,
73, and 74 at the Elevator electrical panel.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power ON and go to the El-
evator diagnostic screen (GP 6.2 Input/Out-
put Diagnostics). Make sure that the sensor
and reflector are not obstructed. Is input
"Book In Elevator" off?

N
Disconnect wire 59. On the diagnostic
screen does input "Book In Elevator" switch
off?
2. Status Indicator RAPs
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the Ele-
vator I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory
PWB Replacement).
Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.31 Ele-
vator 56421TCA (4/7) or PL 5.37 Elev. Elec-
trical Panel EE-3523).
2. Short wire 59 to 74. On the diagnostic
screen does input "Book In Elevator" switch
on?

N
Disconnect power and replace the Elevator
I/O PWB (REP 4.26 Accessory PWB Re-
placement).
3. Adjust the sensor (GP 6.6 Retro-reflective
Sensors) and replace if faulty (PL 5.31 Ele-
vator 56421TCA (4/7) or PL 5.37 Elev. Elec-
trical Panel EE-3523).
