RAP 2.21 Left Jogger Cylinder

Outputs 10 and 18
To register each book, an air cylinder pushes
the book into the registration plate during the jog
cycle. This jogging cylinder is located on the left
side of the machine, across from the registration
assembly (Figure 2-26).
The jogger pressure valve increases or de-
creases the pressure to the jogger cylinder de-
pending on the thickness of the books.
Possible Fault Indicators
Jogger fails to extend.
"Left Jog Failed to Extend/
Retract" message is displayed.
Initial Actions
Perform RAP 2.20 Pneumatic Pressure.
Check for air leaks and disconnected or pinched
air hoses.
Check for loose or damaged wires 67 and 61 at
the electrical panel.
Check that the cable connector on valve #1 is
connected properly.
Procedure
1. Switch the main power OFF and the main air
OFF.
2. Move the jogger plate in and out by hand.
Does the cylinder move freely?
Y
N
Replace jogger cylinder (PL 5.10 Main As-
sembly 59000 (10/14))
3. Inside the electrical panel area, disconnect
the air hose labeled "P" from the pressure
control valve and re-route as shown in Fig-
ure 2-27.

4. Switch the main air ON.
5. Switch the main power ON. Place an A4 or
8-1/2 x 11 book in the jogging station.
6. Manually activate valve #1 by pressing the
button on the valve (Figure 2-27). Does the
jogger extend?

N
Disconnect power and air, then replace
valve #1 (PL 5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm.
59012-1).
7. Electrically activate valve #1 by shorting wire
67 to 74. Does the jogger extend?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace valve #1 (PL
5.22 Pneu. Manifold Asm. 59012-1).
8. Is there 24 VDC between wires 61 and 74
while in idle state and 7-12 VDC during a jog
cycle?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the console
PWB (REP 4.24 Console PWB Replace-
ment).
9. Is there 24 VDC between wires 67 and 74
while in idle state and 0 VDC during a jog
cycle?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the console
PWB (REP 4.23 Main PWB Replacement).
10. Switch the main air OFF.
11. Re-connect air hoses "P" and "1P" to their
initial configuration as shown in Figure 2-27
and switch the main air ON.
12. Place a large, thick book in the jogging sta-
tion. Go to the diagnostic screen and ena-
ble outputs (GP 6.2 Input/Output Diagnos-
tics). Press the Set PWM1 0% button, then

10%, then 50%, then 100%. Does the jog-
ger extend with stronger force with each but-
ton?
Y
N
Disconnect power and replace the propor-
tional valve (PL 5.2 Main Assembly 59000
(2/14)).
13. Adjust minimum and maximum jog pressure
settings (ADJ 4.20 Left Jog Pressure Adjust-
ment).
