Provisioning Connections Using the

This chapter describes how to set up permanent virtual circuit (PVC),
switched virtual circuit (SVC), and soft permanent virtual circuit (SPVC)
connections in the PSAX system for service provisioning and how to view
statistics data for billing and performance monitoring. Before you provision
connections for the modules, you must have first completed the following
tasks:
•
Setting the configuration values for one or more ports on the
Channelized DS3 module
•
Setting the configuration values for the various types of interfaces on the
Channelized DS3 module
This chapter contains instructions for making the following types of
connections:
•
PVC connections:
~ ATM-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC)
~ ATM-to-ATM virtual path connection (VPC)
~ Circuit Emulation-to ATM virtual channel connection (VCC)
~ Circuit Emulation-to Circuit Emulation
~ Variable bit rate (VBR)-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC)
~ Variable bit rate (VBR)-to-VBR connection
~ Frame relay-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC) connection
~ Frame relay-to-frame relay connection
~ In-band management IP PVC connection
•
SVC connections:
~ ATM-ATM virtual channel connection VCC (n)
~ ATM IISP CBR connection
~ ATM IISP VBR connection
•
SPVC connections:
~ Circuit Emulation-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC) (y)
~ ATM-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC) (z)
~ Variable bit rate (VBR)-to-ATM virtual channel connection (VCC) (w)
PVCs consist of connections between ports on the various PSAX I/O modules.
When setting up some types of connections, you can set up data traffic to
flow in several ways, depending on the type of connection as follows:
