passwd

The superuser passwd command changes the Model 5390 administrative password. The Model 5390
server does not echo passwords. You can press the Return key to revert to the default password and
return to the superuser prompt (by default, annex#) when the Current password, New password, or
Confirm new password prompt is displayed. The syntax is:
passwd
The passwd command display looks like this:
annex# passwd
Current password:
New password:
Confirm new password:

ping

Use the superuser ping (packet internet groper) command to determine whether a remote host, router,
or Model 5390 server can be reached and to view statistics about packet loss and delivery time. The
ping command sends an Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) Echo Request message to elicit
an ICMP Echo Response from the specified host, router, or Model 5390 server. The command prints
output for each response returned. Table C3-15 describes the arguments for ping.

NOTE: If the Model 5390 server is configured with an IP address, the
default administrative password is the IP address. If the Model 5390
server is not yet configured with an IP address and the administrative
password has not been modified (either via this command or via the
Model 5390 parameter password), the default password is a null string
("") . If the Model 5390 server is not configured with an IP address and
boots via MOP, IPX, or from FLASH ROM, the default password is a
null string ("") and entering a carriage return at any one of the pass-
word prompts returns you to the superuser prompt (by default, annex#).
