AppleTalk-specific Configuration Parameters
You can use either the host-based na utility, the local CLI admin command, SNMP, or the Annex
Manager to configure Model 5390 parameters.
The AppleTalk-specific configuration parameters are divided into two groups:
AppleTalk-specific Model 5390 parameters.
AppleTalk-specific serial line port parameters.
For more details on using na, see na Commands starting on page C1-1.
For more details on using the CLI commands, see Using the CLI Commands starting on page C3-1.
For more details on using SNMP, see Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) starting on
page B2-1.
For more details on using the Model 5390 configuration parameters, see Configuration Parameters
starting on page C2-1.
For more details on using the Annex Manager, refer to Using the Annex Manager Graphical User
Interface.
AppleTalk-specific Model 5390 Parameters
The AppleTalk-specific Model 5390 parameters are visible only when the option_key parameter
contains the correct key value for the Model 5390 server. These parameters provide some AppleTalk
protocol control, limits, and identification. Table A10-1 lists these parameters; the following
subsections describe them in detail.
893-741-B
NOTE: If the option_key parameter is invalid, the Model 5390 server
automatically disables AppleTalk.
NOTE: Because AppleTalk uses dynamic addressing, AppleTalk
addresses are acquired at boot time. The a_router, zone, and node_id
parameters are hints for the Model 5390 server to use at startup. If
another AppleTalk node is using an address defined as a hint, the Model
5390 server chooses a different address. The stats command displays
the runtime values for these parameters.
