ONNECTIVITY
The T200, T380, and T680 libraries can use Quad Interface Processors
(QIPs) or direct-attach drives to provide network connectivity.

Using QIPs

The Fibre Channel QIP (F-QIP) and Gigabit Ethernet QIP (E-QIP) provide
connectivity between the SCSI drives installed in the library and a Fibre
Channel or Gigabit Ethernet network, respectively. Each QIP provides
internal connections to the four drives in a DBA and has two external
ports.
QIPs perform the following functions in addition to providing connectivity
to the drives:

The QIP in a partition provides the control path for SCSI motion
commands issued by the host to control the robotic transporter.
Each QIP can support multiple partitions, each appearing as a physical
library to the hosts connected to the library. For example, if two of the
drives controlled by the QIP are assigned to one partition and the other
two are assigned to a second partition, the QIP provides the robotic
control path for both partitions.
