Code Cause and Solution
d Two drives on the Fibre Channel loop have the same AL-PA.
E The Fibre Channel port connection is off-line.
e The drive detected a configuration error prior to an encryption operation.
F The Fibre Channel drive's dip switch 3 is set to ON and the drive doesn't see light, or a related
diagnostic failed on not seeing light.
P The drive tried to write to a write-protected tape and failed.

There may be a problem with the SCD. Turn the power off, then on and determine whether

all segments on the SCD are lit. If they are all lit, you may have a down-level version of the
tape drive's firmware; contact SpectraGuard Technical Support.
... The message display has lost communication with the tape drive. This message appears on
Line 2 of the message display. The three dots may occasionally display during normal
processing.
LTO-3 SCD Codes
If multiple errors occur, the code with highest priority (lowest number)
displays first. Once corrected, the code with the next highest priority
displays, until none remain.
Code Cause and Solution

No error occurred and no action is required. The power was cycled or diagnostics have
finished with no errors.

Cooling problem; the recommended operating temperature was exceeded. Perform one or
more of the following:
Ensure that the cooling fan is rotating and is quiet.
Remove any blockage that prevents air from flowing freely through the tape drive.
Ensure that the operating temperature and airflow is within the specified range.
If the operating temperature is within the specified range and the problem persists,
replace the drive.
Note: The error code clears when you power-off the tape drive or place it in maintenance
mode.

Power problem.
The externally supplied power is approaching the specified voltage limits (the tape drive is
still operating) or is outside the specified voltage limits (the tape drive is not operating).
Make sure that the library's power connector is properly seated.
If the problem persists, contact SpectraGuard Technical Support.
Note: The error code clears when you power-off the tape drive or place it in maintenance
mode.
