Flex bays. Depending on requirements, flex bays let you increase the
number of drives or amount of media installed in the library. Flex bays
can accommodate additional drive bay assemblies (DBAs) for increased
performance or shelves for increased storage capacity. Two shelves
occupy the same physical space as a single DBA. Each shelf has three
chambers for media storage.
Drive Bay Assemblies (DBA). Modular drive bay assemblies house the
drives and controllers installed in the library. Each DBA accommodates
up to four full-height tape drives or four RXT drives and provides the
electrical and internal interface connections for the drives. The DBA
also includes a controller bay to the right of the drives. The controller
bay accommodates one QIP or bus expansion module. Use of a QIP or
bus expansion module is optional, depending on how the drives in the
DBA connect to the network.
