2. Select Detail next to the drive you want to check. The Drive Details

Write-protect switch. If you are writing data to a cartridge, make sure
that the cartridge is write-enabled (see
page
88) before importing it into the library.
Cartridge age. If a tape cartridge has been in use for a long time or if it
has been used frequently, try using a new cartridge.
Cleaning. Clean the tape drive(s) as described in
on page
306.
SCSI bus termination. If you experience sporadic errors and are using
direct-attach SCSI drives, make sure that the SCSI bus connected to
each drive is properly terminated at both ends.
Your library was shipped with the appropriate terminators installed on
each drive. If you removed terminators in order to daisy-chain multiple
drives, you must terminate the bus at the last drive in the daisy chain
by installing a terminator on the drive or on the last connector on the
bus expansion module (see
