Appendix A — Best Practices
W
ORKING WITH
The following sections describe best practices for using both tape and RXT
media and for managing your media inventory. All library user groups
have privileges that allow them to use the library's user interface to
perform the media handling and management operations described in this
chapter. Because handling media requires you to physically interact with
the library, much of the information in this chapter is not applicable when
you are accessing the library using a web browser.

Use Only Spectra Logic Approved Tape Media

Do not use any media that has not been approved by Spectra Logic for use
in the Spectra T200, T380, and T680 libraries. To ensure the best possible
performance, use Spectra Logic Certified media. Check the
web site
In addition to its own certified media, Spectra Logic only supports media produced
Caution
by IBM, HP, Fuji, Maxell, Sony, or TDK.
Before using media other than those listed as supported above, contact
SpectraGuard Technical support to understand the risk associated with use of
unsupported media.
