When your library was installed, it was configured with one or more
partitions based on your initial requirements. This chapter describes how
to modify partitions, how to create additional partitions, and how to delete
a partition. The library must always have at least one partition configured.
It supports a maximum of eight partitions.
Before you start configuring the partitions in your library, read Partitions,

Before you start, make sure that you have identified the number of slots,
drives, and QIPs, if any, to use in each partition. You also need information
about the network to which each partition is connected. The following
table summarizes the information that you need.

Description
Determine type of media to be used in the partition. You can only choose from
media types that are compatible with the drives already installed in the library.
The media type you select determines the type of drive that can be used in the
partition.
Only one media type can be used in each partition.
If you purchased and enabled the Automatic Drive Cleaning option, determine
the number of chambers to be used for the cleaning partition. A cleaning
partition can be shared by multiple data partitions as long as the cleaning
cartridges are compatible with the tape drives in the data partitions.
Determine the number of chambers to be used for the partition's entry/exit
pool. Each chamber holds a single TeraPack magazine or RXT media pack.
The chambers in the entry/exit pool are not accessible to the backup software
for writing or reading data.
