Switch Interface Boards (SIBs) create the switch fabric for the QFX10008. Each
QFX10008 contains six SIBs that are installed vertically, mid-chassis, between the line
cards and the control boards in the front and the fan trays in the rear. When all six SIBs
are installed, the QFX10008 has a net switching capacity of 42 terabytes per second
(TBps).
The SIBs make up the QFX10008 switching plane. Five SIBs are required for operation
with the sixth providing N+1 redundancy. Each SIB has eight connectors that match and
connect to a connector on one of the eight line cards. SIB slots are numbered 0 to 5,
numbered from left to right. See
