Before you manually remove the switch from a rack:
Ensure that the rack is stable and secured to the building.
Ensure there is enough space to place the removed switch in its new location and along
the path to the new location. See
Hardware Maintenance" on page

Ensure that the switch has been safely powered off.
Ensure you have a Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2 or number 3, depending on the size
of your rack-mounting screws.
To manually remove a QFX10008 from a rack:
Remove all line cards, Control Boards, power supplies, fan trays, and SIBs before

Ensure that all of the removed components are stored in electrostatic bags.
Use the appropriate Phillips (+) screwdriver to remove the 24 mounting screws that

attach the chassis front-mounting brackets to the rack.
WARNING:
To prevent injury, keep your back straight and lift with your
legs, not your back. Do not twist your body as you lift. Balance the load
evenly and be sure that your footing is firm.
Position one person on each side and another in the rear of the chassis. There are two

handles on the side, but these handles are only meant to help guide the empty chassis
out of the mounting brackets.
On each side, hold the bottom of the chassis and carefully lift it onto the mounting

brackets on the four-post rack.
