7. Check the backlash measurement.
Clamp the output shaft (1) in a vise.
Position a dial indicator (2) as shown.
Insert the key (3) into the key slot on the input shaft.
The backlash should be 0.001 - 0.007 in as mea-
sured at the key on the input shaft.
Add or remove shims until the desired backlash mea-
surement is achieved.
Fill the gearbox with 500 gm (17 ounces) of NLGI 2
grease or until grease exits the gearbox case.
