If contact pattern is:
High on input, low on output
Low on input, high on output
11. Use the same procedure as described in "Backlash
Adjustment" 7 to move the shafts in or out. After ad-
justing the shafts, recheck the backlash to ensure
it has not changed. Continue to apply bluing com-
pound to check and adjust gear contact pattern until
it is correct.
12. Install oil seals (10), pay attention to not damage the
lip seals. Install keys (14).
13. Install sprocket (3) and washer (2). Tighten bolt (1).
14. Install hub (11), and washer (12). Install bolt (13),
and tighten them to a torque between 85 - 109 N·m
(63 - 80 ft. lbs).
Fill the gearbox with 0.25 L (8.5 fl. oz. ) of API GL5
80W90 gear oil.
