Fan variator - Troubleshooting (K.62.B.53 - G.40.A.10)
Problem
Cleaning fan is not turning
at the proper speed
Unit is noisy
Cleaning fan vibrates
during operation
Variator sheaves run
warm
CROP PROCESSING - CLEANING Primary cleaning
Possible Cause
Drive belt out of adjustment
Drive belt worn, slipping or sheaves dam-
aged
Sheaves and drive/driven shafts are dry,
worn, or damaged
Fan blades are encountering an obstruc-
tion
Fan shaft bearings are dry, worn, or dam-
aged
Fan blades out of adjustment, bent or bro-
ken
Sheaves, shafts or bearings, worn or dam-
aged
Flat or worn spot on belt
Fan shaft bearings dry, worn, damaged or
broken
Drive shaft worn, damaged or bent
Sheave broken or damaged
Bearings and sheaves are not greased reg-
ularly according to maintenance schedule

Adjust variator drive to minimum and maxi-
mum speed specs (See Adjustments in this
chapter)
Repair or replace drive belt or sheaves
Grease or replace worn or damaged parts
Stop engine and cleaning fan, clear ob-
struction
Grease or replace bearings
Adjust, repair or replace fan blades. See
"Cleaning Fan" section for adjustment
Repair or replace worn or damaged parts
Replace belt
Replace worn, damaged or broken bear-
ings
Repair or replace shaft
Replace sheave
Grease bearings and sheaves according to
maintenance schedule, or daily
