Considerations and limitations

When in asymmetrical flow control mode, the ONT will not generate PAUSE frames for the client if
there is traffic congestion
Support for enabling/disabling ONTSIG (channel package) by setting the ME for the first UNI
ONT requires a reboot to switch from channel package mode to ONT snooping mode (but not from
snooping to channel package mode)
Support for ONT IGMP snooping function processing of IGMPv3 but ignores source IP address. The ONT
ignores source IP address in IGMPv3 records and multicast ACL.
The ONT filters multicast streams by MAC destination address instead of group IP
IGMP packet burst containing more than 32 packets cannot be processed
Downstream over-subscription may cause upstream packet loss
ONT does not support the following per ONT TC-layer counters:
•
received fragments
•
received blocks
•
transmitted fragments
•
transmitted blocks
No support for 802.1x
No support for classifying ingress packets by VID + Priority. VID + Priority flows are processed in the
ONT as VID classified flows. For example, the following concurrent upstream flows on the same UNI
port cannot be supported:
•
VID 100, Priority a --> VID 1000, Priority x
•
VID 100, Priority b --> VID 2000, Priority y
The following concurrent flows on the same UNI Port can be supported because pbit translation is
applied to the same VID:
•
VID 100, Priority a --> VID 1000, Priority x
•
VID 100, Priority b --> VID 1000, Priority y
ONT only supports sending VoIP packets to OLT as tagged frame
All the POTS UNIs should share the same DSCP configuration
No support for the following PM counters:
•
Loss GEM Fragment Counter Downstream
•
Loss GEM Fragment Counter Upstream
•
Bad GEM Headers Received Counter
No support for RTP performance monitoring
Voice connection delay may occur if the called user accepts the call very quickly (during or
immediately following the first ring)
The calling party may temporary hear a ringback tone mixed with noise in some H248 applications
Support for G.729 and G.711 a/u but not for G.726-32 codec
No support for RFC 3407 [Session Description Protocol (SDP) SImple Capability Declaration]
No support for registrar and outbound proxy redundancy based on DNS A records or SRV records
No support for POTS PBDT (Pull-Break-Dial-Tone) with H.248 and G6
No support for Call History Data collection (ONTCALLHST)
