Configuring
Redirection Function
on Asynchronous
Serial Interface(s)
c
CAUTION:
If SSH is configured, you must set the authentication mode to scheme using
the authentication-mode scheme command to guarantee a successful login.
The protocol inbound ssh command fails if the authentication mode is
password or none. For the corresponding configuration, refer to the
authentication-mode command in
2155.
The protocol(s) configured through the protocol inbound command takes
effect next time you log in from that user interface.

Currently, this function is supported on the AUX and TTY user interfaces only.
With the redirection function, you can let user A, who telnets to router B with a
specific port number, log onto device C which is connected to the asynchronous
interface of router B. The user will see the interface of device C, and operations
under that view will apply to device C.
Follow these steps to configure redirection on asynchronous serial interfaces:
To do...
Enter system view
Enter VTY user interface view
Enable redirection on the
asynchronous serial interface
Set the timeout time for the
redirected telnet connection
Disable Telnet option
negotiation when establishing
redirected Telnet connection
Specify a listening port for
redirected Telnet connections
Enable the device that
redirects Telnet connection to
process the carriage returns
received from the Telnet client
Enable the device that
redirects Telnet connection to
process the carriage returns
received from the terminal
Manually terminate the
redirected Telnet connection
