Using the Wideband Analysis Hardware

(Option B25 for MXA and EXA)

Option B25 hardware enables up to 25 MHz of capture bandwidth. IQ Analyzer Mode is provided to access this
wideband hardware.
There are couplings and interactions when using the optional hardware with other options and hardware.
• B25 access is not limited to IQ analyzer mode. We can use B25 from 89600 VSA software and modulation
analysis in other modes.
• If this wideband hardware is installed, IQ Analyzer Mode always makes measurements above 3.6 GHz using
the wideband path. The standard "narrowband" path is not available in IQ Analyzer Mode above 3.6 GHz.
• Option EA3 (1 dB electronic attenuator for digital communications) is not required for operation of the
wideband option B25.
• If the wideband hardware is installed, but the electronic attenuator (EA3) is not installed, then the wideband
input path is used for all measurements in IQ Analyzer Mode. Since the standard "narrowband" path is not
available in IQ Analyzer Mode without Option EA3, only the Option B25 specifications apply.
• The preamp options (MXA P03, P08, P13, P26 and EXA P03) cannot be used in IQ Analyzer Mode with
Option B25.
Improved accuracy can be obtained using an external calibration. This capability is available
TIP
using the Agilent 89600 Vector Signal Analysis Software.
