current Mode has also specified a custom response, in which case the
current Mode's custom IDN response takes precedence over the System's,
but only while that Mode is the current Mode.
• It survives shutdown and restart of the software and therefore survives a
power cycle
• Null string as parameter restores the Factory setting
This is unaffected by Preset but is set to the original factory setting on a
"Restore System Defaults->Misc"
