rate-limit
Use this command to define the rate limit for a specific interface. Use this
command without specifying a rate to restore the default rate. Use the no
form to restore the default status of disabled.
Syntax
rate-limit {input | output} [rate]
no rate-limit {input | output}
• input – Input rate
• output – Output rate
• rate – Maximum value in Mbps.
Default Setting
Fast Ethernet interface – 100 Mbps
Gigabit Ethernet interface – 1000 Mbps
Command Mode
Interface Configuration (Ethernet, Port Channel)
Command Usage
• The range is:
- Fast Ethernet interface – 1 to 100 Mbps
- Gigabit Ethernet interface – 8 to 1000 Mbps
• Resolution – The increment of change:
- Fast Ethernet interface – 1 Mbps
- Gigabit Ethernet interface – 8 Mbps
• Due to a switch chip limitation, the input rate limit can only be enabled
or disabled for all interfaces. In other words, the rate limit input and
no rate limit input commands apply globally to the entire switch.
However, specific rates apply to the specified interface.
• The output rate limit can be enabled or disabled for specific interfaces.
Example
Console(config)#interface ethernet 1/1
Console(config-if)#rate-limit input 10
Console(config-if)#
4-136
