MAINTENANCE
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the cylinder head, hand-
tighten the spark plug before using a wrench to
tighten to the specified torque.
With the plug washer attached, screw the spark
plug in by hand to prevent cross-threading.
Tighten the spark plug.
TORQUE: 12 N·m (1.2 kgf·m, 9 lbf.ft)
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
NOTE:
When installing the radiator, set the air guide rub-
ber properly. Do not pinch the air guide rubber be-
tween the frame and radiator.
VAL VE CLEARANCE

Inspect and adjust the valve clearance while the en-
gine is cold (below 35 °C, 95 °F).
Remove the cylinder head cover (page 8-3).
Remove the timing hole cap.
Rotate the crankshaft clockwise and align the "T"
mark on the ignition pulse generator rotor with the
index notch on the right crankcase cover.
The timing marks ("IN" for intake and "EX" for ex-
haust) on the cam sprockets must be flush with the
cylinder head surface and facing outward as shown.
If the timing marks are facing inward, rotate the
crankshaft clockwise 360° (1 full turn) and align the
'T' mark with the index notch.
