ELECTRIC STARTER
STARTER MOTOR
REMOVAL

Always turn the ignition switch OFF before
servici11g the starter motor. The motor could
suddenly start, causing serious injury.
Remove the fuel tank (page 2-3).
Drain the coolant from the system by removing the
drain bolt on the water pump (page 6-5).
Disconnect the water hose from the water pump.
Remove the rubber cap, terminal nut and starter
motor cable.
Pull the water hose aside.
Remove the two mounting bolts and the starter mo-
tor from the crankcase.
Remove the 0-ring from the starter motor.

Remove the starter motor case bolts.
Remove the 0-rings from starter motor case bolts.
Record the
