The
Normal Operation
provides one row for each channel in use. In this context, the phrase channel is used
as a common term to identify the combination of transceiver, transducer and operating
frequency. You are permitted to change the parameters.

transducer setup file. You can therefore not make any changes that might damage your
transceiver or transducer. Certain settings may be limited by your license.
Do not to make any changes unless you are well aware of the consequences.
If you wish to investigate the ambient noise, choose Passive mode in the
dialog box. Any noise or disturbance in the water - within the transducer's
Operation
frequency range - will then be detected and shown. This feature will for example be
able to pick up disturbances from other hydroacoustic systems on your own vessel, or
on other vessels in the vicinity.
The ES80 supports wideband transmissions using frequency sweeps. This is often
referred to as "chirp", and means that the transmission frequency changes from a "start"
frequency to an "end" frequency within the transmission. In order to use the frequency
sweep ("chirp") functionality, you must use frequency modulated (FM) pulses. You must
also use a wideband transducer that supports the complete frequency range.
