DTC P1636 (32): Motor Power Inverter (MPI)
Module Internal Circuit Malfunction
1. T u r n the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Reset the MCM (see page 12-6).
3. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P1636 indicated?
YES—Replace the MPI m o d u l e (see page 12-144),
then go to step 4.
NO—Intermittent failure, system is OK at this
t i m e . B
4. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
5. Reset the M C M (see page 12-6).
6. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Are any Temporary DTCs or DTCs indicated?
YES—If DTC P1636 is indicated, check for poor
connections or loose t e r m i n a l s at the MPI m o d u l e
and the M C M , then go to step 1. If any other
T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the
indicated D T C s t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g .
NO—Troubleshooting is c o m p l e t e . •
DTC P1673 (22): Motor Control Module
(MCM) Relay Stays Activated
1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
2. Reset the M C M (see page 12-6).
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II) then OFF, and w a i t
at least 30 seconds. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)
again.
4. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Is DTC P1673 indicated?
Y E S — G o t o step 4.
NO—Intermittent failure, system is OK at this t i m e .
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at
the M C M relay and the M C M . B
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
6. Turn the battery m o d u l e switch OFF (see page 12-4).
7. Remove the IPU lid (see page 12-140).
8. Disconnect M C M connector B (24P).
9. Check for continuity between body g r o u n d and
M C M connector terminal B15.

Is there continuity?
YES—Repair short in the w i r e between M C M
relay 1 and the M C M (B15), then go to step 11.
N O — G o t o step 10.
