PGM-FI System
DTC Troubleshooting (cont'd)
DTC P1129: MAP Sensor Signal Higher than
Expected
1. Check for v a c u u m leaks in these parts:
• PCV valve
• PCV hose
• EVAP canister purge valve
• Throttle body
• Intake manifold
• Brake booster hose
Are the parts
OK?
Y E S — G o t o step 2.
NO—Repair or replace parts w i t h v a c u u m leaks,
then go to step 9.
2. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at
3,000 rpm w i t h o u t load (in Park or neutral) until the
radiator fan comes o n , then let it idle.
3. Check the MAP SENSOR in the DATA LIST w i t h the
HDS.
Is there more than 36.9 kPa (11.0
in.Hg,
277 mmHg) or 1.14 V held for more
than
5
seconds?
Y E S — G o t o step 7.
N O — G o t o step 4.
4. Clear the DTC w i t h the HDS.
5. Test-drive under these conditions:
• Engine coolant temperature above 158 °F (70 °C)
• Engine speed between 1,400 and 6,500 rpm
• Transmission in D position
• Vehicle decelerated f r o m m o r e than 50 m p h
(80 km/h) w i t h the throttle fully closed for at least
5 seconds
6. M o n i t o r the OBD STATUS for DTC P1129 in the
DTCs MENU w i t h the HDS.
Does the screen
indicate
FAILED?
Y E S — G o t o step 7.
NO—If the screen indicates PASSED, intermittent
failure, system is OK at this t i m e . Check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor
and the PCM. If the screen indicates NOT
COMPLETED, go to step 5 and recheck.
7. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
8. Replace the MAP sensor (see page 11-218).
9. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
10. Reset the PCM w i t h the HDS.
11. Do the PCM idle learn procedure (see page 11-340).
12. Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at
3,000 rpm w i t h o u t load (in Park or neutral) until the
radiator fan comes o n , then let it idle.
13. Test-drive under these conditions:
• Engine coolant temperature above 158 °F (70 °C)
• Engine speed between 1,400 and 6,500 r p m
• Transmission in D position
• Vehicle decelerated f r o m m o r e than 50 m p h
(80 km/h) w i t h the throttle fully closed for at least
5 seconds
14. Check for T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs w i t h the HDS.
Are any Temporary
DTCs
or DTCs
indicated?
Y E S - l f DTC P1129 is indicated, check for poor
connections or loose terminals at the MAP sensor
and the PCM, then go to step 1. If any other
T e m p o r a r y DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the
indicated D T C s t r o u b l e s h o o t i n g .
NO—Go to step 15.
